GBF Begins Imports of Colombian Origin Limes
A diverse and Expanded Supply from Colombia helps to mitigate volatility and pricing surges in the North American Lime market
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Award-winning grower Goldenberry Farms® has expanded its Colombian-based fresh fruit offerings to include organic and conventional Tahiti limes.
Limes are one of Colombia's top three fresh fruit exports behind banana and avocado, and over the last decade have become a successful crop for thousands of fruit farmers.
The unique taste of Colombian limes is an ideal blend of sour and sweet.
The country boasts varied climates and elevations, allowing for multiple growing regions and continuous availability all months of the year.
Colombian Lime exports nearly doubled in the four months of January to April 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, according to government data.
“We believe that Colombia is on track to have a bright future in key international lime markets and will be able to offer greater flexibility to U.S. retailers and importers.”
Goldenberry Farms offers weekly shipments of Tahiti Limes and organic limes by sea to North America (Port Everglades & Philadelphia) with a planned joint-venture expansion underway.
Nestled in between 2 oceans, in mountainous and tropical terrain, Colombia is one of the top growing zones globally for limes and tropical fruit. The climate, soil, and altitude of our Colombian Farms all suit the lime production very well. Growing in multiple regions, allows us to keep up our production year-round and have consistent quality at any time of the year
